Restaurant Review: The Green Gourmet

I have been meaning to try out The Green Gourmet for several months and I finally got the chance tonight! They are an all organic and natural foods market and café, and buy from local farmers as much as possible. My friend Melissa and her family were in town for a couple of nights, and we decided to check out The Green Gourmet for dinner. Walking in you see the display case on the right and a couple of chalk boards with juice, smoothie, and information on specials. Juice Bar happy hour is 3-5pm, noted!

We were warmly greeted and seated right away with menus and a beer and wine list. You can order off the menu or get anything from the display case. Peer into the display case and your mouth will start to water, so many delicious looking choices! They had a great organic wine and beer list, but tonight we went with water since my friends had a long drive ahead of them. We started off with the hummus appetizer, and ordered the salmon cake and Greek Salad from the display case. The hummus was thick and creamy, I saved a scoop for the burger I ordered. I tried a bite of the salmon cake, it was made with mostly shredded Yukon gold potato and less salmon than anticipated; good flavor but more of a potato cake with salmon. My friend and her family enjoyed the Greek salad, no cheese for me.

I ordered the Bison Burger medium rare on a gluten free bun (Rudi’s Bakery brand). It was cooked perfectly and it tasted absolutely amazing!! This was the best burger I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time, meaty and juicy. It was nice to enjoy on a gluten free bun, not an option I’ve come across at other establishments. The cabbage slaw was crunchy with a light flavor that perfectly complemented the burger. I was delighted with my meal. My friend and her husband also ordered the bison burger and raved about the quality. Their kids helped them quite a bit with the burgers, so I’d say bison burgers are a hit on this menu!

I will be back to The Green Gourmet very soon! The food was amazing, the staff warm and friendly, all in a beautiful atmosphere. This will be perfect for a date night with my husband, he was off watching the US Soccer team play in Miami, Go USA!!
